We offer many services for the community.
Our vision is to make New Jersey a place where every animal is treated with respect, kindness and love. Even though the animals in our care reside in state-of-the-art housing, what they really need is a loving home. Come visit a Homeward Bound Adoption Center!
We understand that “life happens” which may lead to unfortunate circumstances, causing families to rehome their pets. We ask that you do not walk into any shelter to surrender your pet without an appointment. Appointments are in place to help control the amount of in-house animals at any given time. Please contact our Customer Service Department 732-542-0040 to schedule an appointment to surrender your pet as needed. As a private not for profit organization, we have limited space and can only accept animals from Monmouth County. We strive to keep happy, healthy, adoptable animals as long as it may take for them to find their forever homes, provided the pet remains to be physically and behaviorally healthy and safe in our care. The MCSPCA seldom has extra space for more pets, so we ask that you try relatives, friends, coworkers, and neighbors before surrendering to any shelter. Please, do not post your pets on untrustworthy websites to find them a home– often these sites lead to horrific situations. Before making a decision to re-home your pet, consider our Pet Pantry to help with your monthly food supply, our behavior department for training classes, and our clinic for low cost vaccines as well as spay/neuter.
Moving and looking for pet-friendly housing? Call our Customer Service Department, or view our list of places here.
Still need to relinquish your pet? After calling our Customer Service Department (732-542-0040) and setting up an appointment, please print these forms (dogs) (cats) and have them filled out for your surrender date.
The Vogel-SPCA Spay/Neuter Clinic provides low cost spaying and neutering for your pets. We can offer this high quality care for your pet because our staff specializes in spay/neuter surgery. Spaying and neutering your pet has significant health benefits and will help reduce the terrible overpopulation of pets that results in so many homeless animals in the shelter.
You can bring your pet to our clinic to be microchipped for a small fee! Microchipping involves placing a very small chip under your pet’s skin. This chip contains your information, and this information is placed in the AKC database. If your pet is lost, a special scanner can be used to ‘read’ your pet’s chip and find out who he belongs to, so you can be notified. It is an excellent way to make sure pet and owner can be re-united!
We know you love your dog. But, an untrained dog can be no fun. Does Fido jump on you? Drag you down the street when you try to walk him? Dog obedience training can make a world of difference in your pet. Just six short classes can transform your unruly beast into a well-behaved pet who knows how to sit, heel and stay.
If you have lost or found a pet and need more information, please call us at 732-542-0040.
At the Maureen O’Brien Cats and Dogs Thrift Store, you can find all kinds of good stuff and can donate items, too. All proceeds go to help the animals at the MCSPCA.
