Adoption Event

Hosting an adoption event at your business or organization can be a fun and meaningful way to bring people together while helping homeless animals find their forever homes. These events often attract large crowds and create an uplifting atmosphere for everyone involved.

When considering an event like this, the MCSPCA asks that a few important factors be kept in mind, as coordinating off-site adoptions can present some unique challenges. Shelter pets are typically most comfortable in familiar surroundings where they experience less stress, recognize their environment, and are cared for by staff who know them well. When animals are transported to unfamiliar locations, the change in environment can sometimes cause stress and may prevent them from showing their true, wonderful personalities the way they would in the shelter setting. For that reason, our pets’ safety and comfort are always our top priority. Fortunately, the MCSPCA welcomes so many visitors to our campus each year that we are able to find homes for thousands of animals right here at the shelter.

From time to time, however, we do partner with major supporters to host special adoption events at outside venues. In these cases, the host organization typically coordinates a complementary fundraising effort to help offset the costs associated with staffing, transporting animals, and processing adoption applications and paperwork on site. The MCSPCA is happy to provide guidance on fundraising ideas that work well to generate a meaningful donation to support our animals, and can help promote the event through our social media network, which reaches millions of potential attendees.

When thoughtfully planned, these events can be both enjoyable and highly successful, drawing large crowds of supporters and potential adopters. Because of the logistics involved, they do require advance planning and coordination.

If your business or organization is interested in hosting a larger event that includes both a fundraising component and an off-site adoption opportunity, we encourage you to contact our Development Office to explore the possibilities.
