Anyone hungry? Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Nugget! Or as my friends at the MCSPCA call me, Nuggy! I’m a 1 ½ year old Pitbull weighing a yummy 50 pounds. Found wandering the streets as a stray, I’m now ready to wander into your heart and home!
I’m a bouncy and bubbly boy who can get overly excited during playtime. Still puppy-like at heart, I sometimes use my mouth when I’m feeling curious. So it would be best if my adopters engaged calmly with me as we got to know each other. Building a bond with me will a fun process though! I’m an affectionate guy who is ready to be your loyal companion.
Already have a dog at home? No worries! I’m a certified doggie playgroup rock-star here at the shelter! A little bit of a rough ‘n tumble kinda guy, I’m slowly learning how to read my fellow doggos style for a well-matched play session.
In the market for one hunky happy meal? The Monmouth County SPCA is open for walk-ins every day, starting at noon!

We only do adoptions in person (please bring all family members).
We will ask you to fill out an Adoption Survey and speak with an Adoption Counselor to help find your perfect match!
You can save time and fill out a survey online, they are also available at the shelter. Completing a survey does not secure any animal for adoption. You do not need to submit a survey to visit, nor do you need to receive a response to a survey to visit. The survey is NOT an application that needs approval.
Adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment, so finding the right match is very important.
Finding the perfect pet takes time. The process usually takes at least an hour, so please plan accordingly. All adoption paperwork must be submitted to the front desk one hour before closing.
Adopters are encouraged to bring their own carrier or leash and collar.
Adoption Fees
Dogs
- Dogs 7 years and older: $125
- Dogs over 6 months: $275
- Puppies under 6 months: $575
Cat Adoption Fees
- Cats 7 years and older, $75
- Cats over 6 months $125 and $75 for each additional cat
- Kittens under 4 months $175, $100 for each additional kitten
*The discounted adoption fees for additional kitties applies ONLY to cats/kittens adopted the same day*
Other Furry Creatures
- Mice, Hamsters, Rats $15
- Guinea Pigs $30
- Rabbits, Chinchillas, Ferrets $100
- All exotics are half price fees for a second friend
