Open For Walk-Ins Every Day!

I’m Lucy a 2-year-old Pitbull weighing 53 pounds. Found abandoned in a wildlife park along with my friend Ricky, most likely dumped, we were tethered to a tree, left without any food or water, and covered in tick and insect bites. It was a miracle that we were found and brought to the MCSPCA. While our friends here at the shelter have an open investigation trying to hold our previous owners accountable, we’ve been making strides in the right direction, gaining weight, never having to worry about when our next meals are coming.

Considering what I’ve been through and the hardships I may have faced in my past, I remain resilient and friendly to everyone that I meet. I’m one excitable gal who gets anxious in new places and with lots of handling, it’s best to go respectfully slow allowing me time to build my tolerance and trust. Likely crated for long periods of time and used for breeding, I find comfort in my stuffed toys. Just don’t try to take them away, I turn into one intense toy player and will hang onto any plush I can.

If you are ready and willing to open your heart and home, giving a second chance to a perfect pittie who deserves the world, I’d love to meet you! The Monmouth County SPCA is open for walk-ins every day, starting at noon!

How to Adopt a Pet

Can't adopt? Join our Sponsor a Pet Program!

Adoption Hours:

Monday 12-5pm

Tuesday 12-5pm

Wednesday 12-7pm

Thursday 12-7pm

Friday 12-7pm

Saturday/Sunday 12-5pm

We only do adoptions in person (please bring all family members).

We will ask you to fill out an Adoption Survey and speak with an Adoption Counselor to help find your perfect match!

We are open to the public for walk-ins!

You can save time and fill out a survey online, they are also available at the shelter. Completing a survey does not secure any animal for adoption. You do not need to submit a survey to visit, nor do you need to receive a response to a survey to visit. The survey is NOT an application that needs approval.

Adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment, so finding the right match is very important.

Finding the perfect pet takes time. The process usually takes at least an hour, so please plan accordingly. All adoption paperwork must be submitted to the front desk one hour before closing.

Adopters are encouraged to bring their own carrier or leash and collar.
