Hi! I’m Javi, a big mushball loverboy-just purrfection!! I showed up as a stray one day at the Goodyear Auto Service Store in Eatontown. The nice staff fed me but grew concerned when they noticed wounds on my back and mouth. They brought me to the shelter so I could get the medical care I needed.
It turns out, I have Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex. Cats with this condition present with Eosinophilic Granulomas, which are lesions that typically show up in and/or around the mouth as well as the stomach and/or hind legs.
The exact cause of Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex in cats is unknown. Some research studies suggest that an allergic response (hypersensitivity reaction) may be involved and is more likely in cases that are recurrent. Other studies suggest that the condition may at least be partially genetic or inherited.
There are different ways to treat the condition I have such as medication and/or a hypoallergenic diet. In my case, a course of steroids has worked beautifully! Although the lesions aren’t completely resolved, they have greatly improved.
I am also FIV+. FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and means that my immune system is weaker than a cat without FIV. Being FIV+ does not affect my quality of life one bit. With an FIV+ cat, the most important thing is to try to avoid unnecessary stressors as well as other cats that are sick, since FIV+ cats are more likely to catch an illness if they are exposed to it.
I know that my medical “issues” will make it harder for me to find my forever home but I’m hoping you’ll look past them and see the absolute lovebug hunk that I am!!
Me in a nutshell: I am about 7 years young. I absolutely love to be petted, kissed, cuddled, held and loved. I’ve never lived with another animal but it’s something I would absolutely consider if it means I get to go home with YOU!!!
How to Adopt a Pet
Can't adopt? Join our Sponsor a Pet Program!
Adoption Hours:
Monday 12-5pm
Tuesday 12-5pm
Wednesday 12-7pm
Thursday 12-7pm
Friday 12-7pm
Saturday/Sunday 12-5pm
We only do adoptions in person (please bring all family members).
We will ask you to fill out an Adoption Survey and speak with an Adoption Counselor to help find your perfect match!
You can save time and fill out a survey online, they are also available at the shelter. Completing a survey does not secure any animal for adoption. You do not need to submit a survey to visit, nor do you need to receive a response to a survey to visit. The survey is NOT an application that needs approval.
Adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment, so finding the right match is very important.
Finding the perfect pet takes time. The process usually takes at least an hour, so please plan accordingly. All adoption paperwork must be submitted to the front desk one hour before closing.
Adopters are encouraged to bring their own carrier or leash and collar.
