Juanito came to us from a less-than-ideal home. He is a sweet, gentle dog who doesn’t seem to know how to play with toys yet. Juanito is very smart – he knows “sit”, “paw”, “down”, “stay”, and “come”. Juanito is 4 years old. He has a gorgeous red brindle coat.

Juanito is a Busy Bee, a dog that is naturally playful, curious, and trusting. Give him something to do, and when his job is done, he’ll hang out on the couch with you.

It’s been almost three weeks since we adopted Yukiyu (now named Bella) and we LOVE her. She is such a sweet girl and so calm for a puppy! She loves to be held and loves to play in the yard, and she is very lazy, haha! -Shannon

Diary of a Foster Mom: Part 2

How do you give your Foster babies back?

So, as promised, I will now answer that question.

First, it’s definitely worth mentioning that there are many reasons that foster homes are needed:

• Medical reasons such as: recovering from a big surgery that needs a quiet environment to recuperate, or an animal that is not eating in the Shelter who needs *extra* TLC, or the animal is too young…like the little kittens in the photo!
• Behavioral reasons such as: shy or fearful in the Shelter and needs to learn to trust people, puppies that need some training on manners or hissy little kittens who need to be handled & cuddled…how fun is that?!

Being a Foster Mom/parent is a wonderful, HUGE responsibility that allows the animal a loving home to grow and learn to trust people.

And so, HOW can I give the animals back, well, again it’s not always easy! However, when you play a part in helping that animal grow, either physically like the bottle baby kittens, or emotionally with the behavioral fosters, it becomes a gift that is better shared! And that gift is for both the new family who adopts your foster baby, and also for you who gave the animal so much love and attention!

We need many foster families at the MCSPCA, especially right now as we approach “kitten season” and we’ll give you all the guidance and supplies to be a successful foster parent!

Betty White is a senior Retriever mix who is looking for a safe, happy place to spend her days. She is calm and friendly. Betty White enjoys going for walks, and walks nicely on leash.

Betty White is a Couch Potato, a relaxed, laid-back kind of dog who enjoys long naps and watching movies.

Happy is a 1-year-old Terrier mix who was originally found as a stray. He is very friendly, and loves people. We were told that Happy is housetrained, but that he doesn’t get along well with other dogs. Happy is very energetic and playful.

Happy is a Go Getter – ACTION is his middle name. His “Let’s go!” lifestyle will keep you motivated to get outside and move!

Gordon is a 2-year-old Terrier mix who was found as a stray. He’s very friendly and extremely energetic. Gordon would love an active home where he can play and have fun all day. Gordon loves laps and giving kisses. He enjoys playing with rubber balls and toys. Gordon knows “sit”, “stay”, and “come”, and can catch treats in the air.

Gordon is a Go Getter – ACTION is his middle name. He’ll run for miles, chase a ball for hours, and still want to play at the end of the day.
