2012 Brings Changes to the Executive Director Position

Laurie Garrison, Executive Director of the Monmouth County SPCA (MCSPCA) has announced that she won’t be renewing her contract when it expires at the end of January in order to pursue other opportunities.  “The Monmouth County SPCA is an amazing organization and it has been an honor and a privilege to serve as its Executive Director.  I know it will continue to save the lives of thousands of animals every year, which is what it is all about.”

Become a Monmouth County SPCA Pantry Pals Member

Sadie was abandoned with no food, water or shelter by a family who could no longer care for her.  Unable to adjust to the stressful shelter environment, Sadie is currently being cared for through our foster program.  She has been patiently waiting for her new “forever family” for almost six months, and we are very hopeful that they will walk through our doors very soon.  In the meantime, look for Sadie on our Facebook page, where her foster mom posts new photos from Sadie’s adventures each week!… more


Monmouth County SPCA the Results Are In! ASPCA Awards $100K Challenge Grants

For three months in 2011, the MCSPCA was one of 49 organizations across the country that participated in the ASPCA $100K Challenge.  The organization that saved the most lives over a three month period was awarded a $100,000 grant from the ASPCA; however, the real winners across the country were the 8,977 animals who were awarded their forever homes.

While last year was the sophomore year for the national competition, it was the first year that the MCSPCA participated in the $100K Challenge. While they didn’t win the $100,000 grant, they did finish in 27th place by saving 96 more lives … more


Monmouth County SPCA Valentine’s Brunch: All They Need Is Love

Love is in the air once again at the Monmouth County SPCA Valentine’s Brunch.  The yearly event is being held at McLoone’s Pier House at Pier Village, Long Branch on Sunday February 12th at 11am. With or without a sweetheart this is a great way to share your love with the homeless animals of the MCSPCA.

Hoarding Situation Brings 29 Puppies to the MCSPCA

This week our Humane Law Enforcement Division brought 2 whelping moms and a total of 29 puppies of a variety of ages, some as young as 3 weeks old, to the Monmouth County SPCA. They were taken from a hoarding situation in Spring Lake Heights, where more than 50 dogs were living in a small house with a very small yard. This case is being investigated by our Humane Law Division.  We anticipate additional dogs coming into our shelter soon.

The puppies are being evaluated by our veterinarians, and will not be available for adoption until Friday.

Matchmaker Central Video, a volunteer project to promote adoption!

With the cat population in the building steadily rising, some of our wonderful volunteers and staff went to work thinking of new and creative ways to get our adoptable kitties noticed.
