Home 4 the Holidays, Spread some Holiday Cheer with the MCSPCA

Spread Some Holiday Cheer by Meeting Your Perfect Match at the MCSPCA

EATONTOWN, NJ – For years we have seen the image of a good little boy or girl asking Santa to leave a cute, adorable new puppy or kitten under the Christmas tree.  Sadly this meant a trip to the pet store to purchase a new pet leaving many wonderful, loving animals awaiting adoption behind at centers all over the country.  It was in 1999 that Iams® supported the first Home 4 the Holidays event with the Helen Woodward Animal Center and 14 participating shelters in San Diego County.  Over the past 11 years existence of the program over 4.6 million animals have found homes nationally with the 3,500 organizations that participate in the Home 4 the Holidays campaign worldwide.  This year the Home 4 the Holidays goal is to place 1.5 million orphaned animals into their forever homes from October 1, 2010 through January 4, 2011.

Once again the Monmouth County SPCA is proud to be celebrating Home 4 the Holidays on Saturday November 20, 2010 at the Homeward Bound Adoption Center located in Eatontown, NJ.  The event will be held from 11am to 5pm with fun activities for the entire family.  The day is going to include a gift auction, kids coloring contest, bake sale, kitty photo contest, child and pet photos with Santa, a giving tree of toys for the adoption center animals and a grab bag of coupons. Some of the scheduled activities will require a donation for participation.

If all of that wasn’t enough there will also be a special appearance by Kitty Claus, our spokes cat for the event.  In addition a book signing by local author and photographer Kim Levin introducing her latest release Dogplay – The Canine Guide to Being Happy. “I am thrilled to be a part of the Home 4 the Holidays event at the Monmouth County SPCA. As an animal advocate and supporter of the MCSPCA for many years, I hope that many people come out this day to adopt a shelter pet and make them a part of their home,” said Ms. Levin about participating in the event.

Not ready to adopt an orphaned pet at the MCSPCA?  Well, you can still spend a great day supporting the residents of the organization by shopping for the pet or pet lover in your life.  The Monmouth County SPCA 2011 Homeward Bound Calendar makes a wonderful gift as you celebrate twelve months of heartwarming stories of MCSPCA alumni making their homeward bound journeys.  You and your pet can wear your support for the animals of the MCSPCA by purchasing a logo themed hoodie or t-shirt at our Woof’ n Whiskers Boutique.
