UPDATE, August 7:  We planned to rescue 10 dogs from the Gulf Coast, but when we arrived at St. Hubert’s yesterday,

we ended up taking 19.  Who could resist faces like Ty’s?  We couldn’t and neither will you!  There are short dogs, tall dogs, short hair, long hair, small to large, a little bit of everything.

These poor dogs spent 24 hours in a truck, then hours at St. Hubert’s getting checked out and their paperwork in order.  Then they found themselves packed up in our vans, arriving a little shell-shocked but hungry an

d happy to have a quiet place to sleep with a blanket of their own.  All will be medically evaluated, given tender-loving care to recover from their trip, and the dogs who are already spayed/neutered will be available for adoption starting on Monday August 9. More info soon!

Please help cover the cost of spaying/neutering, vaccinating and providing further medical care for these lucky pups. Donate now!

August 6:  Friends of the MCSPCA have been working hard to rescue dogs who have been displaced due to the disaster in the Gulf.

Over 200 dogs a month are being turned in or abandoned because people in the area have lost their jobs.

The Humane Society of the United States, the Louisiana SPCA and St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center have coordinated an effort to send 100 dogs from the Gulf to northern animal shelters, including the MCSPCA.
This Friday we will be welcoming 10 of these adult dogs into our facility. We couldn’t be more excited to be able to lend a hand to a fellow shore community.

Stay tuned to our website for when these amazing dogs will be available for adoption.

For more information, please see St. Hubert’s in depth press release.
